Becoming Motivated

What does motivation mean to you? Do you get fired up when you see or hear the word?

How do you motivate yourself? More importantly – do you need motivation?

Motivation has come to embody a great deal in the Western world. I’ve often heard people from non-English speaking countries comment on how lazy we are in the West. I tend to agree with them in some respect. Work ethic in the Asian and European countries is incredibly high. It is passed down from generations and instilled in young people.

Without the risk of comparing cultural differences, I want you to note the anomalies which exist. I could write an entire book on motivation – someday I will. There is so much to be said about it. Let’s keep it brief by highlighting some concepts, ideas and suggestions which may create interest for you. Read More→

What can you do now to be a BRAVE HEART:

1. Don’t be afraid of your shadow. Trust in God and build up your faith. Be strong and take courage. Do not be dismayed even though things seem hard and tough – know that you have God with you wherever you go. Just only believe.

2. Smarten up and sharpen up. You have to put in the time to learn. You have to train, prepare and get your groove back. Learn technology. Integrate, automate and delegate tasks where you can.

3. Figure it out. Information is power. Quit saying you “don’t know” Read More→

5 Differences Between Wishful Thinking and Intentional Action

There is a reason that we speak of New Year’s Resolutions, or purchase books from the “self-help” shelf, or hire life coaches. We aren’t where we want to be. Yes, we may have contentment in some categories of our lives, but often we find certain segments of ourselves lacking. Whether it be what we find in the mirror, our wallet, or our soul, our life always seems to beckon us toward growth. We want “different” and “better”. But, if this desire is so universal and so predictable, why is it also not more potent? Why doesn’t mere “wanting” produce change and transformation?

1. Often we don’t know the “how” behind the change. We know where we are, and what we long for, but we seem to be without compass, map, or adequate orienteering skills. Read More→

Dream Weavers: How to Find and Create a Dream for Your Life When You Don’t Have One

By Paula Matthews

Believe it or not, there are some people who don’t dream about their future. They aren’t trying to become superheroes and they aren’t trying to retrieve dead dreams, they just don’t dream at all. That part of their subconscious which is designed for revealing creative information during a resting state, has collapsed with negative thoughts and defeat; or worse yet, the subconscious has been totally suppressed. This can easily happen when all one meditates on during the day are his or her failures; or when one abuses his or her mind by filling up on entertainment that clogs the subconscious with other people’s dreams.

Let’s say that you have believed all the negative talk saying that you were good for nothing and will always be a loser; and rather than standing up and fighting, you took those negative words and replayed the tapes in your head until they consumed you. Now, you find yourself in the very place THEY said you’d be. Read More→

5 Steps to Find Your Life Purpose

Life purpose is like the North Star it is not a destination, but a direction of travel. Real and lasting motivation comes from within when we take action in line with our North Star. Our life choices become significantly easier (both what to do and just as importantly what not to do) when we have a clear sense of purpose and direction.

The Chinese army has a punishment: they get soldiers who’ve done something bad to dig a big hole for several hours and then fill it back in again, because nothing is more soul destroying than work without purpose. The British army used to have a similar punishment, they would have soldiers dig all the coal out of the coal cellar and put it on the other side then white wash one of the walls and shovel all the coal down against that whitewashed wall because nothing is more soul destroying than work without purpose.
