One Saturday, I took a walk along a beautiful stream in the woods. I love just looking at the water flow over and under, this way and that, around the rocks! Every single rock or pebble had a different relationship with the water current.

I noticed one rock by itself. It brought me to thinking that maybe the rock was like me, wondering how to survive the onslaught of what’s coming every day. I also noticed a little group of pebbles – did each one think it was all alone, not aware that there were others, not realizing that they all faced similar situations? I looked further down – I saw one rock standing so proudly, so strong above the others. It happened to be protecting the smaller one in front of it from the force of the current. I marveled to see how that small one just surrendered to the flow and let the water pass over it over it with barely any resistance.

This wonderfully energetic yet peaceful stream made me aware of the relationship we have with the stream of life. Like the rocks in the water, we are surrounded by a field of constantly moving energy that flows between us and joins us all. And just as separate rocks brought together become strong enough to alter the flow of the stream, we also become stronger when we connect with words of encouragement, support and gratitude. When we strengthen others, we strengthen ourselves as well.

If we have a positive thought, a bit of gratitude, an encouraging word, it’s so important to share it. Once our words and our good wishes are out there in the flow, they are so powerful! They reach so far. They so greatly amplify the flow of energy in the stream of life! They connect. They stimulate. They inspire.
