Do Spirituality and Productivity need to be mutually exclusive? Wouldn’t a bridge between your spirituality and productivity would make it easier – and more joyful – for you to bring your gifts, your wisdom and your richness into creation, into manifestation …into something tangible and real. Imagine the possibilities!
So how do you build that bridge?
Discovering what roadblocks tend to show up for you is the first step. There are eight that tend to appear over and over again for creative, spiritually oriented people. As you identify the roadblocks that you tend to encounter, you can begin using simple tools and techniques that help you move through, over, under what’s in your way. You may find that most of these roadblocks are all self-created. They are wound up in your thoughts, ideas, beliefs, habits and such.
The good news about that is that you can use your spiritual-intelligence to undo, dissolve, correct or redefine what’s been keeping you from living your dreams full-on.
In this series of articles you will learn tools for clearing the eight most common roadblocks to Spiritivity™. What’s Spiritivity™, you ask? It’s where Spirituality and Productivity come together in the most magical ways!
Common Roadblock to Spiritivity™ #1:
You Have a Feeling of Being Unworthy
The first most common roadblock that people run into when they are wanting to take their creativity and spirituality and somehow bring it into their lives and their work and their productive “making something happen’ is the feeling of being unworthy.
That condition has nearly reached epic proportions now. The number of people who feel unworthy to live their own dreams… is heart-breaking.
Bask, for a moment in the idea that your soul was cast with a certain magic to it; a certain light was put within you, and whether you chose it, or God chose it, or the mystery of the cosmos said, “This soul shall be born with this great light,” you have something brilliant about you. If you feel unworthy to bring your brilliance to the world, the world will miss out on something that only YOU can bring.
Finding your base of worthiness is not so much about making unworthiness wrong. Instead, it is about getting more grounded, more connected, and more clear about your soul’s intention. More clear about your SELF. More clear in your choice to bring your truth and your voice forward.
I want to offer you a technique to help you do this. You may hear a voice in your head saying, “I’ve done that before.” Listen, if you are stopped by this roadblock, it doesn’t matter if you have used this tool before or not. You aren’t the same you as before. Reintroducing a tool, exercise or practice can really help you continue to grow.
Energetically Connect to Your Worth
Intentionally, whether through meditation or contemplation, connect to that which feels most pure and expressive to who you are. Aim for the best you know at this moment, not the be all, end all. That does not matter. When you feel really great about yourself… I am not talking about ego-great, like: “Hey, look at me!” Feel, sense, recall and connect to the experience of you shining from the inside out. You have turned your own light on from the inside and it’s shining out through you.
When your light is on and shining through, do one of several things: journal, write a poem, or write a song or find a piece of music that feels that same way to you. Or maybe you have a picture, a video or a collection of images that you’ll put together. Maybe you will create a collage that reflects how you being connected; a kinetic physical experience of being worthy of your own light. What you write or draw or sing is an outer expression of your inner experience.
Once you have your expression, the practice is to engage with it, repeatedly, on schedule. Sometimes the creative spiritual parts of us say, “I don’t want a structure! Come on, isn’t this supposed to be about freedom and flowing?” Yes, it is. Structure makes freedom and flow possible. So structure that is intended to serve freedom, flow, creativity and spirituality will take you light years further than if you don’t engage with structure.
Let’s look at how simple this can be. You can practice this together with existing structures in your life. Once you have your poem, or your journal writing or your music or your collage or your song or your dance or whatever it is, then three to five times each day, using the structures in your life, actively engage with your expression. Those five times are: when you arise from sleep, when you eat your breakfast, when you prepare or eat your lunch, when you prepare or eat dinner and right before you sleep.
Infuse yourself with your own connection to your soul. It’s that simple, so I invite you to bring this practice into your life and move through the roadblock of feeling unworthy.
As you begin, you might feel like you’re faking it. There’s no need for judgment. Simply read, sing, recite, gaze upon your expression and let yourself feel, really feel on a physical, spiritual, energetic level how this expression is a true resonance with who you really are. You may be moved to tears, or laughter. Chills may tingle down your back. You may have memories or fantasies spontaneously appear. Simple for a few minutes five times a day allow yourself to raise yourself up to meet You.
In time, sometimes instantly, sometimes weeks or years later, you will notice that your experience of yourself is transformed. No longer do you question that you are worthy to shine your light into the world around you. You simply beam, and that light you emit illuminates the way as you continue to build the bridge to where your spirituality and productivity come together in magical ways!
