“‘How does one become a butterfly?’ she asked pensively. ‘You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.’” ~ Trina Paulus
How long have you been living your life as a “caterpillar?” How long have you been waiting to spread your wings and fly? So why creep when you could soar?! There is a horizon waiting for you… if you only open the blinds to see the view.
How amazing does it feel when you open the blinds each day to let the sunshine in? Georgia Douglas Johnson (a poet) once said, “Your world is as big as you make it.” The key words here are “As you make it.” In other words, “progression” is the predominant factor of your existence… your evolution. Nothing is meant to stay the same… everything changes, whether it’s for better or worse… this we continue to learn in life. Are you staying where you are when you could be ready for change? Change is something many of us continually want, but rarely find… or we’re too afraid to take the step.
Now is the time for transformation… time to see a new horizon. A caterpillar does not have the choice to have a metamorphosis… the progression is natural. And as human beings we did not have the choice to grow from childhood to adulthood. Fortunately though, we do have the choice mentally and spiritually as to whether we want to crawl or soar.
You can always get creative in your own metamorphosis. You can consistently grow in Spirit, in career, relationship, and your own persona. Broaden your vision ~ take off your blinders. Be open to what is around you and begin the process to develop yourself in to a beautiful being. Before you know it, you’re like the caterpillar, you will slowly begin to see changes in yourself psychologically… even in your physical appearance and inner soul. Have you ever been told, “You look amazing! You’re glowing!” That’s because internally through our core self and soul we are growing. Positive change produces an emanation around us that is part of our growth cycle… our aura. People can sense when we are at a different place within our soul and existence. This is all part of our own metamorphosis and self-development.
There is always time to make beautiful changes to yourself! If you start internally, the changes outwardly will happen naturally… just like the caterpillar. What do you see in your horizon? Envision it… and make it happen! Is it self-discovery, happiness, self-love, college, peace, financial prosperity, a new career, an exercise plan, or a new hobby? Reach down, look around and open your mind to what is before you. Remember the song by Alanis Morissette, “Hand in My Pocket?” “I’ve got one hand in my pocket and the other is giving a high-five!” In other words, broadening your horizon is to always keep your options open, a part of you grounded and the other part ready for adventure!
Author Henry Miller said it best, “All growth is a leap in the dark, a spontaneous unpremeditated act without the benefit of experience.” This sounds very similar to the caterpillar’s evolution. Only you will know when it is time to open the blinds for yourself.
“Not knowing when the dawn will come, I open every door.”
~ Emily Dickinson
