How important is the cup that that holds your coffee (or tea)? This video compares life to a cup of coffee. It asks whether the quality or appearance of the cup affects your perception of the coffee, and makes you think about what you really focus on…
There are definitely different points of view possible here: How important is the container? Is the coffee (inside) affected by the vessel that contains it? There has been some research by the Riedel glass company showing very clearly that the shape of a wine glass does affect how you perceive the wine. On the other hand, the video suggests that the cup is only a tool… What do you think?

- The Most Important Thing to Learn From Michael Jackson’s Life by Ed Beck... Have you learned from this? There is one thing that makes Michael Jackson's death less of a tragedy. The fact that most people go through their daily existence without ever really reaching for the stars. Most do not even remember what it's like to dream. If nothing else, his death should remind us of how we all should live life to the extreme....
Hi,
beauty is great, however I agree with the video that the content is more important than the container….
the most important thing is you.

What a neat analogy~ Thanks Arlene. It helped me see in a new light the truth that all of us have life within us, possibility, longing, hope, and ability, and that this life is the essentially the same in everyone. I think the point of the story is to see the potential for growth and life to be present in any situation, which I agree with most of the time. I also think that some cups can be leaky! And if the leaks are something we can’t fix ourselves, we have the ability and freedom (most of the time) to choose to live our life in “cups” that will allow us to live our best life.
I do agree that chronic complaining does little to help anybody.
Love this video. Our perception is an interesting thing. It shapes our thoughts, feelings and world. Who cares what the cup looks like, it’s whats inside that matters. Learn to live from the inside out, not the outside in.
