Have you ever felt like you just wanted to break free, spread your wings, and fly? At some point in life, we all do. It’s a natural human urge to want to soar to higher heights and be in an environment where we can experience complete freedom.
As acclaimed author and spiritual teacher Iyanla Vanzant said, “We are all built to fly.” Yes, it’s true, we are all built to fly…but it doesn’t mean we ever will. To have the potential to do a thing is never enough. In order to fly, you have to be aware that you can, then, you have to test your wings.
Do you believe you can fly? If you do, then from this day forward, refuse to live beneath your potential. Release old, ineffective beliefs and traditions that are weighing you down and throwing dirt on your wings. Limitations are in your mind, and you can release them if you choose to – it’s a matter of will. Those thoughts of inferiority or mediocrity passed along from family members, loved ones, co-workers and bosses or the stereotypes imposed on your race or gender by society are all discretionary – you have the power within you to deny them!
Break free and go to a new place – the place where possibility lies. You are an imaginative, uniquely gifted, powerful being. You have within you the innate ability and the power to excel toward greatness. But it will not simply happen, you have to test your wings. You have to intentionally let go, step out, and realize your potential – regardless of what others have said, and regardless of what exist in your life.
No matter how restricted we may become in our circumstances, there’s always something in us that wants to be free. Don’t settle for low-level living. Explore the possibility of who you can be and what you can do if you “surrender to the wind.” Heed the higher calling of your Spirit and venture to the edge. It’s time to test your wings and discover that you can fly.
