Have you ever felt as though the days, weeks and months are just flying by? Like everything and everyone around you is speeding up, while you remain at a standstill? Do you feel disconnected from your many hopes and dreams that you know are hiding somewhere amongst all the “stuff”? Are you overwhelmed, not only by all that is going on but by something that has been pulling, nagging and eating at you that you just cannot seem to define?
If you’ve answered yes, or even maybe, to just one of these questions your not alone!! There have been times in my life where I’ve felt and answered yes to all of these questions and then some at one time! I have been where you are, and there are times where I still find myself visiting that familiar place every now and again.
But there is hope! There was hope for me then, just as there is hope for you now!
All of us, at one point or another have felt the stressful and frustrating effects of subconsciously putting our lives on “Pause.” So here, I shall provide you with some kind words of truth and encouragement that I personally use each and every time I being to hit the “Snooze” button too many times, and put my personal growth, life and dreams on Pause!
What is the “Snooze” button?
The “Snooze” button is a great tool that everyone has in their trusty tool box. When used properly, it can be just what we need at times. However, it is one that is often overlooked, undervalued or forgotten.
The snooze button allows us, in short, to simply take a full step back (while remaining exactly where we are). To step out and gain a “birds eye view” of our situation, while remaining completely present. To really feel our surroundings, take everything in, get in touch with ourselves and to determine our next step.
“Snooze” time should be taken not only during periods of stress, change or chaos but at regular intervals, even when we think things couldn’t get any better, to “step back” and check in. To re-evaluate where we are, where we’re going and to identify what or if any personal shifts are needed.
Most importantly, and in my opinion, one of the greatest gifts I’ve been given from applying the practices of the snooze button in my life is the art of listening. Regardless of what my current circumstances were at the time, good, bad or worse, I always found a trusting, wise and loving voice within myself, (and trust me when I say you have one too) and an even bigger feeling that…
Something very good is about to happen!
Although all of our situations are different, this is one of many things that we all have in common. This guide, voice or whatever you choose to call it, can always be found in this safe, peaceful and empowering place within ourselves, to provide us with exactly what we need to know in that moment. No more, and no less, and always accompanied by the feeling that although we may not be out of the deep part of the woods just yet, good things are on the way!
Just 5 more minutes!!
As we’ve touched on here, this place that we’re able to embody by hitting the snooze button of life, is a pretty comforting one – we get to retreat from the chaos, back to a familiar place within ourselves, to determine the course of action that is in our best interest. But it is exactly that, that makes too much snoozing harmful to your progression and success.
Just as “snoozing” for that extra 5 or 10 minutes in the morning often ends up making us late, “snoozing” in this context, often causes us to shift from “tuning in” to subconsciously “tuning out and checking out” of our lives completely. Putting our personal growth, lives and dreams on…..
Pause
The information insight and guidance that we are given while we “snooze” is exactly what we need to enter into the next stage of our personal growth.
But for a lot of us, even though we feel more energized, inspired and empowered than ever, often end up giving into our fears, doubts, insecurities and negative self talk, hitting snooze a few more times before making the big leap into the uncomfortable and unfamiliar.
Except most of us never take that leap.
We have allowed not the task before us, but ourselves to make us believe that what we want, we cannot have, what we wish to achieve, we cannot, what rewards we will reap, we do not deserve.
I am writing here today to tell you that your thoughts about you could not be any further from the truth and that where you are right now, is not where you are meant to be.
In-fact you reading these very words today, is a sign that you are waking up!
That your inner passion, voice and higher self are with you, ready to begin again, to empower you to take that same big leap that was before you perhaps not so long ago.
As you begin to really listen and trust in this voice – this wise, powerful, loving part of you, you will begin to see for yourself that you can. That what you want, you can have, that what you wish to achieve, you can, that the rewards you will reap, you do deserve, and that where you are is no longer serving you. That you deserve more! That this unfamiliar voice that speaks of fears, limits and doubts is not your friend, and you do not have to listen to it.
That this place you are currently in, your current “comfort” zone, has in-fact grown to become not so comfortable after all…
Say Yes!
You are at a fork in the road on the journey to your dreams. No one can tell you which path to choose but you. All I can do here, is to let you know that I, not so long ago, also found myself here, and that I chose to listen to the voice that lifted me up and pulled me in the direction of my dreams, as opposed to the one that pushed me down, pulling me along a long dark road of unhappiness.
You have all that you need inside of you, and know all that you need to know. This voice of love, support and empowerment is living proof of exactly that. It will never lie, back down, surrender or stop loving and supporting you.
Your next step may not be easy, in-fact it may very well be one of the most uncomfortable and scary things you have experienced thus far, but it is because I am where I am today, that I know that you too, can overcome anything and everything that is presented before you.
It is in these experiences that we learn our greatest lessons, receive our greatest personal rewards and gain the tools we require for our personal tool box, that enable us to take our lives off pause and truly live our passions to the fullest!
