When you say, “Today I will…”, can you feel the promise and possibility in these words?

There is an openness to them. A chance to start anew. An opportunity to fine-tune the way you are doing things or to do more of what is working well in your life. These words can offer insights, creativity, promise, hope, excitement, love, peace, understanding, compassion, forgiveness, friendship, prosperity, and a second chance. When you begin your day with affirmations of intentions and positivity, it is a reminder that you are responsible for upholding and seeing them through the best you can. Read More→

Freezing Thought

By Tom McAroe

Murphy, a young Irish man, worked at an abattoir just outside of Dublin. After everyone had gone home for the evening, Murphy went to grab some grub from the freezer. By Valencia Ray MD

The courage to stare down fear requires more than meets the eye. In fact, if you keep your focus and attention on what scares you, you will feel more afraid. Yet, you will need to face your fear, name your fear, and then tap into your spiritual power of courage. Courage is not of the head; it’s of the heart.

Even the root “cour” comes from the French word for “heart.” It is when we live in our head and attempt to repress our heart that fear can dominate and overtake the power of vulnerability – fear-lessness. It takes courage to be vulnerable. We have it all backwards. Vulnerability does not mean “weak” and sappy. Read More→

A Deeper Look at the Pleasing Personality.

I was talking with Ryan yesterday. He’s about seven months into a divorce proceeding and pretty bitter about it. We’ve talked about his 13-year marriage many times, exploring it from different angles to learn more about Ryan. This marriage is his third; this divorce is his third. (And, this is a really great guy!) Altogether, Ryan has been married 41 years.

Ryan is an exaggerated Pleaser personality. He was married each time to an exaggerated Comfort personality. It’s not uncommon for this combination of personalities to find each other. Read More→
