Practical Mindfulness for Busy Moms

By Arlene
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

By Tara M Harkins

Most moms I know have a lot on their plate, especially around the holidays. We want the holidays to be a special time for sharing love, fun, delicious food, and for making wonderful memories. Holiday preparations can create a lot of work for moms that are already super busy – the planning, shopping, cleaning, cooking, gifts, traditions, and all the extra touches. It can be really easy to find ourselves caught up in all the stress of our to do lists, while forgetting to enjoy the experience. We want to be more mindful, more present, more in the moment – but we are too busy just trying to get it all done! There is little time to simply ‘be’, to enjoy these significant moments, to celebrate, to give thanks, to come together, and to connect with friends and loved ones. Instead, the holiday season often leaves us stressed, tired, and somewhat disconnected from the wonder, joy, and beauty of these festive times. Read More→

While I was Learning to Become God

By Arlene
Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Note from Arlene: I recently met author Roxana Jones, who just won the 2011 Readers Favorite Award in the General Non Fiction category for her book “While I was Learning to Become God”. Here is my interview with her:

Is any of “While I Was Learning To Become God” fiction?
RJ: The story I present in this book is based on real life events. My intention is to share a message with the world, this is empowering information that leads towards the possibility to forgive the past and open oneself to the God that lives within. I have used Sybil’s life to show a way in which this is achieved. I would say that 20% of the book is fictional having in mind that many people’s names and places were changed and that at the end I used my imagination so that the second book could stay as a real possibility in the reader’s mind until it is published. Let’s Unveil our Magnificence

By Arlene
Friday, August 13th, 2010

One TV program really got my attention this week: on America’s Got Talent, 10 year old Jackie Evancho sang Giacomo Puccini’s aria “O Mio Babbino Caro” like nothing I’ve ever heard before: it totally blew me away! You could only call it Divine. She was magnificent!

What it made me realize is how magnificent we all are! Yes, each and every one of us has a gift, a light inside of us waiting to shine on the world. Can we please promise ourselves to take off those lampshades and dark shrouds we’re wearing and let our light shine on the world?

How to Begin Anything Fearlessly!

By Daniel

By Christine Kane

A few weeks ago, I was on a Group Coaching Call for my Conscious Creative Success Circle. Amy was on the call and sounded “nail-bitey.” (That’s how I describe that “can’t-get-started” nervous state we all feel sometimes!) Amy is just starting her business. She’s learning a lot and doesn’t know where to begin. She wanted advice about this, about what to do, and how to get things off the ground. It’s so tempting in a situation like this to do what EVERY single music biz executive-type did to me when I was getting started: Shout out a big laundry list of to-do’s. After all, laundry lists and more information make us all feel like we’ve gotten our money’s worth, no?

Of course there’s LOTS of actions to take and lists to make when we need to start any project. Read More→

How to Survive a Bad Day

By Arlene
Thursday, May 20th, 2010

By Christine Kane

Let’s face it. No matter how much progress we make, we’re still going to have “bad days.” You know the ones.

When the old critical voices are milling about drinking martinis and eating crab puffs in your head. You try to send them all away with your favorite powerful affirmation, but only a few of them even look up – and one of them turns away and lights a cigarette.

What do you do when no matter what you do, you just feel awful? Read More→
