What is most people’s habitual reaction when someone sneezes? What is the normal response? Most people reply with a “bless you” and few others respond with gesundheit. In Spanish people reply with “salud” which means “health”. Why do people respond this way? Are we taught this in school? Is it unethical or without manner to not respond with a “bless you” when someone sneezes?
How about saying “oh my God”? Is that another habit that a lot of people have? They use it as a form of expression. What does that mean? Instead of using God’s name in vain, why not just say “Oh my Hyrum”? “Oh my Billy”? or “Oh my (your name)”?
Are there certain habits, both verbal & physical, that serve us no purpose? Are there certain habits that keep us from achieving our fullest potential? From achieving that kind of love that you might be searching for. From achieving the kind of income that you would like to have? From living the life style that you want to live?
Our goals cannot be bigger than our habits. I can not expect to become a multimillionaire without having multimillionaire habits to go along with it. I can not expect to lose weight with out having the habits that should accompany such a goal. There can be many habits which we have that are not serving us any good, or that have no purpose or meaning behind it. If you analyze your life you will come to realize you are a direct result of your habits, or lack of.
We all have habits that do not serve us, or that do not bring us closer to achieving our desired outcome. What are we to do with such habits? We need to replace them, or get ride of them all together. What do you do when you have a tiny rock in your shoe? You stop walking and get it out. The same goes for the habits that do not serve us. We need to get rid of them.
If your goal is to become a Doctor, you better have the habits that lead to such a profession. If you spend all your time playing video games (good or bad habit? You be the judge) then wishing to become a doctor is just that, a WISH. You can not wish to be something that you are not willing to pay the price for; and the way you pay the price for it is by being disciplined enough in having proper habits that go along with that goal.
Write down the goals that you have for this year, or for your life time. Next to this goals write the obstacles that can possibly keep you from achieving those goals and make plans to go around them and not to quit (read my “Don’t Quit” article). Next write down the habits or actions that need to be taken on a daily, weekly, and yearly level to achieve your desired goals. One of the reasons most people place goals and never achieve them is because of the habits that control them. Change your habits and thoughts and you change the outcome. http://WealthyToRetire.com
