Leona MacDougall has been singing and writing poetry as a child to present day. She submitted this poem to us about “A Willow Tree” that tells so much about how we would all love to be each day as people, both in our relationship to ourself and to others! Thanks for submitting this to us, Leona.

I wish i wish with all my might

to be a willow tree on a stormy night

bending without judgement at natures will

while at the roots I’d be strong and still

if other trees are afraid or forlorn

I’d lovingly assure them through every storm

what’s gone is meant to be

we choose the storms that set us free

releasing the past so we can look ahead

better uncertain alive than certainly dead

when I grow up I know what I’ll be

a fabulously flexible willow tree

i wish i wish with all my might

to be a willow tree on a stormy night
